Shift has a questionable handling model, but it is most definitely not B2D. As the name implies, you brake to begin a drift, and this drift is what lets you competitively corner. Brake to Drift is when the handling model is specifically designed with high speed arcade cornering in mind. Let's actually clarify what B2D is, while we're at it, since there's a bit of confusion on what should honestly be an easy subject. Handbrake to keep a drift and widen the slide, brake to control speed. You can just power-over into the corner, maybe with some nitrous, and get into a slide. It's the way the car corners, halfway into an actual drift, but somehow understeering when it's just at the edge of rear wheel grip.Īlso, Pro Street doesn't have B2D either. The tyre model isn't as accurate as the billions of development trailers would've suggested. It's infuriating how ghost adamantly insists on this handling model when everyone and I mean EVERYONE I know says it's absolute dogshit. You can't adjust what you're doing, you have to let go. Now you first have to figure out what the game wants to do and just let it do it. What's worse it that now you can't apply real-world logic to your racing lines or how you approach corners, something that you could easily do in games from Need for Speed 1 to need for speed Carbon (at which point things have started going to shit). Now? Just take the turn and hope for the best. Can't turn? Adjust your speed, accelerate early, accelerate later, you name it. In older games you had fairly good control over what the car is doing at all times. The player has no control over what that car does, the second you take that corner and it starts drifting there is only one thing you can do to stop it, which is just that: STOP IT, aka come to a dead stop. Just keep that throttle button down and steer left and right. You turn that stick to the right? Just sit back and enjoy the game taking the turn for you, no other input required. Instead of having a proper physics engine that's dumbed down to make it arcadey, it has a script based handling model. It's not brake to drift, it's shitty ON-RAILS handling, i.e. I think everyone needs to give this b2d meme some rest.
